My name is Thady Trá and I'm a photographer from a wee town in Ireland called Clonakilty in West Cork who has been working in traditional photography methods since 2019. This means using 35mm and Medium Format film and developing my work in a darkroom which I set up in the Clonakilty Community Arts Centre.
I absolutely love sharing my work with people in whatever way i can, be it at the weekly markets in Clonakilty or Skibbereen, exhibitions, photowalks or online.
In October 2025, I had enough of social media consuming me, taking over my life, so i decided to get rid of everything i was signed up to. It was ridiculous. I think i was signed up to nearly 5 different social media platforms at least, which were all 'free'. Yes, i didn't pay money to use them, but I paid them by letting them use and sell my activity to big corporations. My head was spinning for days at this realisation. Also, honestly, the whole thing of people thinking you need to be social media platforms to run a business and sell your products, is nonsense.
I have had my work on them all for 5 years, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok... I only sold 1 print! Lucky for me, i have been super fortunate to have started showing my work in the weekly markets on Fridays and Saturdays.
So, how can you hear about my shenanigans without socials when you don't live in West Cork, you ask? Well, I'm delighted to share with you that I've got a newsletter!
By signing up to my mailing list, you will not only get a direct email from me on a weekly basis with news about upcoming markets, exhibitions, new work and, if you'd like, some other news unrelated to photography.
So, sin é from me for now and I'd love to say thanks for taking yor time to read this and I invite you to read my newsletter too using the link below.
Le grá,
Thady Trá ❤️
